How Errors and Speed are Calculated

• Total Errors=Full Errors + (Half Errors ÷ 2).
• 5% Relaxation: Total Words × 0.05 ignored.
• Final Errors=Total Errors - Relaxation.
• Penalty Words=Final Errors × 10.
• Net WPM=(Total Words - Penalty Words) ÷ 10.

Qualification: English 30 WPM, Hindi 25 WPM after penalties.

Example

Type 1800 keystrokes in 10 min, 25 full errors, 10 half errors:

• Total Words=1800 ÷ 5=360.
• Total Errors=25 + (10 ÷ 2)=30.
• Relaxation=360 × 0.05=18.
• Final Errors=30 - 18=12.
• Penalty=12 × 10=120.
• Net Words=360 - 120=240.
• WPM=240 ÷ 10=24 (Fail).
